So what does Simon Ridgway know about Radius Gold (RDU.v) that we don't?

Probably quite a lot, actually. Here's a list of all Ridgway's insider trades in Radius Gold (RDU.v) this past 12 months. First up, it's notable that the only thing he's done is buy...not a single sale.

Second up, split that lot up into months. Here's how it looks:

mar 25000

may 120000
jun 1000000
jul 42000
aug 0
sep 0
oct 75000
nov 30000

So apart from April, he was a busy little buyer in the first half of the year, was he not? Thirdly, compare the year's price action in RDU to Ridgway's purchases:

To this humble scribe, it does seem quite significant that he's stepping up again and buying in this 56c to 66c range after letting August, September and 3/4 of October go by without doing anything on those elevated prices. DYODD.

disclosure: i've owned it before, but right now no position in RDU

How cheap is Radius Gold (RDU.v)? (now updated with otto dumbass alert)

RDU.v, from the date of IKN17 to today

IKN17 did a full fundy report on Radius Gold (RDU.v) and since that time the stock is up nicely. But to give you and idea of how undervalued the thing still is, consider this:
  • At its current 22.5c share price, RDU.v has a market cap of $12.05m
  • RDU.v owns one million shares of Focus Ventures (FCV.v)
  • Focus Ventures is currently trading at 84c

That means $8.4m of RDU.v's current market cap of $12.05m is covered by that investment alone. So the $16.8m in assets as booked in 2q09 are currently being valued at just over $3.6m.

Next question?

UPDATE: Oh jeesh, my biiiig bad. More coffee needed and a brain replacement. Reader EA has just whacked me over the head with the obvious, that 1m X 0.84 = $840,000, not $8.4m. Therefore this post is in the world of EpicFail. Thank you 'EA' for the mail and the correction and my apologies for being stooooopid, I shall leave the text as stands as tribute to my own dumbassery.

Update November: A warm welcome to all the dumbasses from Germany's "WallStreetOnline" idiots club.

Good morning Mr Ridgway

I wanna be your sledgehammer

Those that follow the blog know that your humble correspondent has been trading Fortuna Silver (FVI.v) in its current range by buying under $0.90 and selling over $1. In fact the last couple of round trips have averaged a 20%+ win with the buys at 85c and the sells at 105c.

Well, looks like I'm in good company on this. Or maybe..... just maybe....... the company chairman himself is a regular reader and is shadowing the Ottotrades. Here are Simon Ridgway's most recent purchases:

Mar 13/09 Mar 10/09 Ridgway, Simon T.P. Indirect Ownership Common Shares 10 - Acquisition in the public market 4,000 $0.830
Mar 13/09 Mar 10/09 Ridgway, Simon T.P. Indirect Ownership Common Shares 10 - Acquisition in the public market 4,500 $0.850
Mar 13/09 Mar 10/09 Ridgway, Simon T.P. Indirect Ownership Common Shares 10 - Acquisition in the public market 2,000 $0.860
Mar 13/09 Mar 10/09 Ridgway, Simon T.P. Indirect Ownership Common Shares 10 - Acquisition in the public market 2,000 $0.870

All nice little chunks bought at the IKN target price between $0.83 and $0.87. And now here's the latest filing, where Ridgway sells 2,000 shares....

Mar 20/09 Mar 18/09 Ridgway, Simon T.P. Indirect Ownership Common Shares 10 - Disposition in the public market -2,000 $1.030

.....yep you guessed it, at the IKN target sale price of $1.03. Weird world, innit? Still, it's nice to know I'm in good company, because some of the drossy, non-company hangers-on recently hanging round this stock have made my stomach turn. As for what Ridgway is doing with the small FVI.v profit scalp, it looks like he's ploughing it into his first love, Radius Gold (RDU.v), as this happened on the same day.

Mar 20/09 Mar 18/09 Ridgway, Simon T.P. Indirect Ownership Common Shares 10 - Acquisition in the public market 21,500 $0.175

A small, beaten-down junior gold operating in LatAm that's now starting to make a noise or two about some new things in Peru? Hey, that might be worth a sniff and a tire-kick right now. After all, if Ridgway likes it...........

DYODD, dude
