James Whitmore (October 1, 1921 – February 6, 2009) was an American two-time Oscar Academy Award-nominated, Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning film actor. Whitmore died of lung cancer, Friday, Feb. 6, 2009, in his Malibu home, according to his son Steve Whitmore.
