The Friday OT: Malcolm McLaren; Double Dutch

The only possible choice today.

To call this track innovative is a severe understatement. So many of the techniques used today are founded in this song and I remember being blown away by the sheer, wild difference of it as a young'un back then on first listening (and viewing). You think some guy talking over a bass-driven backing track just appeared out of nowhere? Nope, it needed people like McLaren to push it into the musical worldview. Totally audacious when released and even now it holds up to the passage of time. Damn good track.

We'll miss you, Malcolm. Duck duck duck.

UPDATE: Check out the evergreat ten percent, who plumped for McLaren's superb "Deep In Vogue" as his Friday! track. Strike a pose, suckaz.
