IKN recommends: Notes From The Rabbit Hole

The subscription service over at BiiWii, costing a teeny tiny $26/month, is something that I fully recommend to all readers interested in junior mining stocks and the stock market in general. Gary does a fantastic job with his charts and analysis thereof (he's the only TA guy I have time for), with today's edition NFTRH147 up there with the best of his work. You should be a subscriber of his service already but if not, be one now. Link here, please use it.

Disclosure: Even though Gary's a friend, no financial benefits of any sort come my way by recommending NFTRH to you. I reco it because it's a damned good service, that's all.

Gary and Minefinders (MFN)

What i like about Gary BiiWii is that he's nobody's fool, stands his corner and follows no track but his own. Your humble scribe and the BiiWii dude often bicker about differences (after all, he is a freakin' charty) but on the odd occasion when he and I agree on a subject, or more importantly a stock, it's a signal I take very seriously indeed.

We came to a view on Minefinders (MFN) (MFL.to) a while back at almost the same time, he coming from his starting point and this humble corner of cyberspace from its own murky world of spreadsheets and mumbojumbo. But we called it the same. And so far......well, go see Gary's chart and his words for yourself.

Moral: Do like me and associate yourself with way smart people, because it makes you look far more intelligent than you actually are. DYODD.

Gary has been nailing the market recently

Biiwii Gary has always been good at this wild'n'whacky market game, but recently he's been near telepathic (and I have no idea how he does it just by staring at his squiggly lines). Those who regularly check out his blog will have a fair idea about his recent accuracy, but those of us who get his subscription weekly really know how spookily well he's been nailing this market down.

BiiWii cannot be recommended highly enough and not only that, but the dude has top music taste, too.

Why Biiwii Gary rules

On reading Gary BiiWii's latest edition of his subscription newsletter on Sunday (we do swapsies; he gets mine and I get his) I was mightily impressed by the early-letter discussion page on technical anlaysis, so I was very pleased that he decided to re-print it on his blog yesterday and urge you to go read it by clicking this link now. Yet again we're reminded just how intelligent Gary is. After all, who would you prefer to listen to?
1) Somebody who has read a whole bunch of books on TA, doesn't have much in the way of analytical nous and proclaims this-or-that MUST happen because the squiggly line says so because the dude that wrote the book he read told him so.

2) Somebody who thinks, learns, listens, has experience and can gauge risk/reward at any given moment, a person with a depth of synthesis in several areas of life (not just line-reading) that can bring a working brain to the subject and interpret what they see (with a strong track-record of calling them right, too). Somebody who's balanced about all things, not just the market, remains humble and keeps their ego well in check. Most importantly, somebody who has a proven track record of making their subscribers good money by making good calls.

Number 1) is the TA-charty I rail against....the binary fool that will come a cropper and never, but never outperform the market...the vast majority of get-rich-quick Walter Mitty types that populate the mumbojumbo pseduoscience called Technical Analysis. Number 2) is Gary, a rare breed of thoughtful and smart player in TA that I truly respect and admire. All analysis is subjective, be it charty or fundy. The difference between a winner and a loser in the markets is the person that can interpret the raw information correctly and it matters not a jot whether that raw info comes in the form of a chart or a balance sheet or anything else.

I'll finish this little tribute by leaving the last word to Gary and an excerpt from his post. Go read it all (and get smarter on the market by subscribing to his weekly letter..that's one investment you won't regret making). Here's Gary:
"....so I will conclude with a simple thought; TA should be an extension of the individual and said individual’s experience in the financial markets. There is no one TA method that is the Holy Grail. If there were, the markets would not be filled with so many wise guys getting it wrong as often as right. Make it work for you or take it with a huge grain of salt."

PS: I'm not on commission or anything of the type. All I get from this is the reflected glory of having aimed you in the direction of a smart guy worth listening to on markets.

Biiwii goes Twittering

Hey, Gary Biiwii is a twitterer nowadays so click this link and follow the guy, especially as Jon "Gold This Morning" is back from his travels and posting his pearls of wisdom on the biiwii blog again.

Biiwii goes Freud

Click on this link to go read a great thinkpiece on markets, inflation, deflation and all sorts of things (including the most basic market subject of them all...how to make money) by Gary Biiwii. We people smart enough to get Gary's subscription service every week are used to the deeper thought element he brings to the table, but it's not so often he puts this strong suit up on the public blog. But today he has, so go read this chunk of trading smarts yourself. Here's a small excerpt as an appetite-whetter:

Meanwhile, the world is not going to end, but it is realigning.  Capital is frightened because much of this capital knows that it has been created out of thin air by a system that depends on the implied confidence zone between the i and d poles to continue the great inflation (there's my big picture view).  Making things all the more intense is the fact that Mr. Bernanke outwardly admits that the Fed is manipulating the treasury bond market, in essence ginning up the safety zone and the perception that "there is no current inflation problem", which the MSM dutifully eats up and feeds back to the herd.  Get it?

BiiWii Gary is on fire

Gary Biiwii has called the present stock market phase extremely well. This has continued today in NFTRH84, the edition just sent out to his subscribers. If the other subbers are anything like me they'll be cheering him and sending him 'thank you' messages for being so damned good at what he does.

I'm not a salesman for his subscriber service and I don't financially benefit in any way from recommending him to you. But I will unashamedly evangelize his service because I'd really like you guys out there to sample his excellent newsletter, as once you see what he can do for you you'll never look back. Here's a link to go find out more over at his blog.

Recommended

Tonight I received the following mail (extracted) from subscriber 'SA':
"...I'm trying to expand my gold holdings to other areas of the world. Could you recommend other gold analysts' newsletters you trust and value for their selections. Thanks for any help you can give!

Sincerely,
XXXXX (name witheld)

To which I sent the following reply. Then it occurred to me that more people than SA might be able to take advantage of the calls, so here they are for everyone.

Hi XXXXX,

I trust and recommend three:

1) Mickey Fulp. His newsletter is free. Sign up here. He gets paid by the companies he covers but he's very selective about the companies he takes on. It's a no-brainer to read Fulp..it's free!!

2) Gary Tanashian of Biiwii dot com. Find out more here. A technical analyst who follows precious metals closely. The only tech analyst I ever bother with. Excellent, honest, insightful and amazing value for money at $26/month.

3) Brent Cook at Exploration Insights. Go to his site on this link. The best geology based gold stocks subscription newsletter by a mile. The top industry pros all read Brent Cook. It's not cheap but it's worth every penny. I learn more from Brent than anyone else.

Hope this helps. By the way, i'm not on any sort of commission from any of the three above. I reco them because i read and trust them.

Common Sense on Gold

I like Biiwii and reco posts over there quite often. This is because Gary is very good at what he does, proven once again today by this post. He takes a broader look at gold that won't make mega-headlines or bring him thousands of hits to his site. He does not seek the bubble reputation even in the cannon's mouth (if you know your Bill the Quill).

This is the world that adults inhabit. A world where we're not looking round every corner or under every stone for the fashionable conspiracy theory. Here's the link again, go now and be smarter on gold than the bunch of rabid fools so easily swayed by wannabe gurus.

Nice Chart from Biiwii this morning

Check out this link on which you'll find a smart graphic from the meisterchartman, Biiwii Gary. It's all about the S&P index and the dollar, so not the normal LatAm fare you find here, but I reckon it to be a very astute observation.

I'm not pasting it here, you can go over and see it at the source. Daylight come an' me wanna go home.

Gold Trading: a must-read

Gary nails gold. Check out the note "micromanaging the gold price" on the biiwii blog this morning. A total must-read for all of us mad enough to try and pick tomorrow's price in gold (yup, that includes me).

FRG: Gary, you nailed the sucker

I've been telling you Gary at biiwii is good at what he does for how long now? A year and a bit, ever since this humble corner of cyberspace began, probably. So look at this chart he published on his free access blog May 4th 2009 (i.e. last Monday) about Fronteer (FRG) (FRG.to):

And here we are 7 days later with FRG at U$3.18 on strong volume. It's already up 20% in a week and looks on the way to Gary's U$3.50 short-term target. I can also tell you, as one of the people who gets his NFTRH newsletter delivered each week, that the quality of info in his (rather inexpensive) paid service is even better than the stuff on his blog. Here's the link to find out more about his newsletter. Highly recommended*.

UPDATE: Gary's added a new post on FRG this morning; again, good advice on offer.

*and no, I'm not on any sort of commission. I just like recommending quality services.

Gary BiiWii, gold and a trade

Gold: It goes up, it goes down. Then it goes up again. Then it goes down again. And then it goes up. It's a dollarstory, of course, confirmed by the way base metals are coming along for the ride today.

While i'm thinking about it, Gary BiiWii deserves a serious shoutout and w00t for the way he's been calling the market recently. He said "HUI 300" when it was way below that number and that was the top almost to the penny. He then said "HUI 250" and sure enough it returned to where he said it would, again almost to the penny. This links to his site, and this links to his useful blog (part of the site).

He also does a paid subscription service and you might want to check it out, as if he keeps whacking out these winning calls the $26 monthly price will pay for itself multiple times over (and yes he's a pal, but I don't get anything in the way of commish or fees for recommending his service. As with everything that happens on this blog, I'm just straightshooting you). Here's the link to go find out more.

Finally, I've been buying today. I picked up small amounts in GRZ (for the love of the sweet Lord, protect me from myself), DMM.to (a small trading position that I'm not going to mentally mix in with the larger, longer-term chunk I still hold from the low prices) and JAG (the idea is to start building a position here...consider this the first lump). If you want to know why, send me a mail. I've also taken out a short position in a gold mining stock by way of a hedge against other exposure but I'm not going to disclose which one. Again, it's only a small chunk and won't affect the world.

Dollar, Dogma and Dinero Dorado

Some enjoyable e-mail banter between your humble scribe and Biiwii Gary (one of those few people that are good at reading charts as mentioned this morning). He tried reminding me that I'm a dollar bull and I said "aha! not no more!" and he said "you can't change opinions!! That's cheating!!!" and I said "don't care" and stuff to that effect etc etc.
.
But there is a serious point worth sharing here; with respect to the strong dollar I previously said give me reasons to prove me wrong and I'll happily admit it. The Fed just gave us all the most enormous reason to hate the dollar yesterday, so i go with JM Keynes when he said;

"When the fact change I change my mind. What do you do, Sir?"
.
The virtual ZIRP unveiled by Bennyboy yesterday gives MONETARY reasons to like all assets. Things like traded commondities have the other part of the equation to factor in, i.e. end demand. You can see the difference in the way that e.g. copper (a true commod) and e.g. gold (a true asset) have reacted in the last couple of days.
.
A fun part of the mix is silver. As pointed out in a recent post, Silver decoupled from tracking gold and started following the broad markets like a faithful dog. Or in other words it moved from its Dr Jekyll asset personality to its Mr Hyde industrial commodity personality. Silver could be the acid test to gauge whether this asset rally has real legs. But remember; there really is nothing new under the sun.

Notes From The Rabbit Hole is the best $26 you'll spend on financial knowledge this year

Biiwii Gary and I did a deal when he was setting up his new subscription service, 'Notes From The Rabbit Hole'. I get a free sub in return for a writing some NOBS reports for his clients*.

This could be the best deal I've done this year. I've just received NFTRH number 5 and it's just about the smartest commentary I've read on anything financial in 2008. An incisive practical roadmap and great advice about what's going on in the moneyworld and how to get through it. I always knew he was good, and on several occasions previously I tried to encourage/cajole/bully him into starting a newsletter service. Message to you, Gary: I was SOOOOO right...your newsletter absolutely and totally rocks.

Gary and I are friends, and so I have that extra reason to drive people to his new service. But I would really like you, dear IKN reader, to benefit from his newsletter the way I have done this morning, too. I got more insight from the nine pages he sent today than I normally get from wading through a month's worth of commentary and analysis from all the other things I read (and believe me I read a lot of stuff).

NFTRH is not an expensive thing, either. You pay U$26 for one month's worth of weekly newsletters (he even throws in some midweek update e-mails, too) and that's not an auto-renewable payment, either. That means you can try it out for one month and walk away very easily if need be.

There's a new star in the newsletter firmament, people. Invest $26 and you'll see what I mean. Here's the link to the relevant page, and I strongly urge you to go right now. By the way, I get no commission or anything for this recommendation; this post is from the heart, not the back pocket.

*I have to deliver one NOBS report per month for six months and also receive a very small amount of expense-covering cash

Notes From The Rabbit Hole

I'm now going to recommend that you spend money at biiwii.com. Gary, owner of biiwii, has finally, FINALLY done what he should have done a long time ago. He's starting up his own subscription newsletter service, called "Notes From The Rabbit Hole." He's just published a free trial copy, and you can get yours on this link right here.

I'm really happy that he's finally taken the plunge on this (I egged him on earlier in the year but as he was still undecided I let it drop). The dude is a very fine technical analyst, and has his head screwed on about the fundamental side of things, too. He's going to charge U$26 per month for the newsletter, which is a real bargain considering it's a weekly newsletter, it gets supplemented with alert specials at any given moment and also most importantly knowing what Gary is capable of quality-wise. It's worth mentioning that he's asked me to write a NOBS report on a company of his choice once a month (I get a free sub that way, and he's even paying me a small cover for each one, too) and that'll be fun, too.

So hightail it over to biiwii now, and find out more. Pick up your free copy of NFTRH (here's the link again, so you have no excuse) and I hope you'll make yourself a client of Gary. and support this value-packed initiative. He'll make you a better investor via this service, of that I have no doubt.
